A Dawg & His Master - Coming Soon!

Here I am, Friday morning, 15 minutes away from a 9:30 interview that I believe will be a no-show. Just a sneaky suspicion is all. If he shows, I'll be very surprised. But that's okay. I have another one coming at 10:30. A cute, hairy Middle Eastern boy with luscious red lips. Damn. Middle Eastern boy just called and said he can't make it; called in to work. Sigh. At least, after a year, I don't take it as personally as I once did. And at least he called. 9:30 boy has not confirmed.

Well, while I wait for the 9:30 that I think won't show, I thought I'd blog about the latest scene we edited. It's a watersports piece called "A Dawg & His Master." We filmed it last year, a few months after I was laid-off. It's been put on the back burner many times, for various reasons. But now, it's finally finished. Because of the laws governing porn, the scene will only be made available through our Horndawgz theatre. That is, once AEBN does the magic it needs to do.

It's down and dirty. No premise. Just PissMasterFLL and his pissboy. It was filmed in a derelict building, in an apartment that was positively filthy! Somehow it added to the ambiance, though. There were holes in the wall, moldy walls, dirt on the floor, busted glass and even dead bugs all over the place. I don't think pissboy wore his contacts. If he had, he may have thought twice about doing this piss scene where we did. But then again, maybe he's just that into the scene that it didn't matter to him.

Yesterday, I embarked on a brand new venture that has taken several months to work itself out: filming content for another producer. Mature Gay DVDs.

You would think that I would be okay with filming for another producer since we've already had 6 releases within 12 months. Granted, they were for our own line but all the work that went into it included advertising for the models, meeting with them, recruiting, filming, editing, and packaging paperwork and Master DVDs to get everything out to our distributor, AMVC.

But I was nervous. Not only was I looking at things through someone else's eyes. I was looking for new things and had a slightly different set of directives in mind. I was also working with a brand new camera, a new location, a photographer, and with people watching.

Turns out the shoot wasn't so bad after all! David, the son, was really great. So was Lamar, the Dad. They both hit if off right away and had great chemistry between them. Problem is we didn't want them to cum too soon. I think this, more than anything, gave Lamar a very bad case of stage fright. Performing under pressure for a cum scene is not the easiest thing in the world. I know. I've been there.

After many tries – where the son did all sorts of things to help out Dad – the helpers were sent away. Two and a half hours later, still no cum. So, we had to reschedule. The footage itself looks great. So do the photos. Hopefully, the folks at Mature Gay DVDs will understand.

And I'm doing the best I can to push away a nagging doubt. What if they don't return?

On Making Porn

I think I'm a fairly easy-going guy. Reasonably laid-back and, for the most part, down-to-earth. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. I believe everyone deserves respect from the start; until they shatter that trust. I've been called Rose Nylund because I can be naive. There are many things I don't know and I can be gullible. But you know? I'm finding that, at 47, some of that luster is… well… becoming a bit tarnished. The rose-colored glasses are turning a bit opaque. No. No quite jaded. At least, not yet. And I hope I never get there!

So here's the thing. We've had a really fun time in the past year and two months that Horndawgz has been in existence. For the most part, I really love meeting with models for a quickie interview (no personal casting, contrary to popular belief, though I've had a few offers!). I like the energy exchange. I like sizing each other up and getting a feel for that person; grooving on their vibe.

We've begun to recruit new talent, in earnest, as I'm shooting content for another producer as well as shooting for our own projects. As a result, I've come into more contact with all different sorts of guys, from younger to older. What I have them do is come meet with me for roughly half an hour. Think of it as an interview. In that time, they fill out a questionnaire that details their sexual preferences and we take some sample test shots so we know what the model looks like when we look through our book.

For the most part, it's been an enjoyable experience. But lately? I've come across a few that have left me annoyed, aggravated and, frankly, stupefied.

And then it hit me. There's obviously a HUGE misconception out there that is leaving people with the wrong impression of what making porn is actually like and what they can expect.

First and foremost, to some, it's a fantasy. I know this. It's certainly been for me. Up until very recently, when I got in front of the camera – both for the experience and the much needed money! – my perception changed. For me, it was the fulfillment of a fantasy but it was also something that became a high. I enjoyed getting paid for having sex. I enjoyed taking my clothes off, touching another body, finding out what makes them tick.

I quickly discovered that I wouldn't be able to quit my day job and make a living at making porn. I wasn't going to get rich by taking my clothes off. And there's a certain shelf life. Not age-wise, since there are movies being filmed with Dads and Grandads. It's more of a personal choice to hang it up and known when to pull out; if you'll pardon the pun.

So… to the boys that comically and, indignantly I might add, declare that they cannot and will not go before the camera for less than $1,000; dream on. Nice work if you can get it. And if you get it, make sure you tell me how because I sure as hell want in on THAT gig! Do you really mean to tell me that you'd rather give it away for free? Oh, and if you tell me that "such-and-such studio" offered you much more, or paid you more, be forewarned. I will reply… nicely… with "Well, perhaps you should take them up on that offer or go back to them."

To the men who say, "I'm very picky and selective," yet don't bother to fill out what they like to do when they have sex on camera, be warned. My reply will be – again, nicely – "Thank you very much for stopping by but we're not a dating agency or an escort service."

For those that call ten minutes before they're scheduled to be here and can't make it because they overslept, thank you for being truthful. Yes, I will reschedule you but I will tell you point blank – again, nicely! – "Please make sure to set your alarm clock."

And for anyone who does not even bother to be courteous enough to take my card and put it in their wallet – you can throw it out when you leave – you're sending me a very big message. If you weren't interested, why did you just waste my time and yours?

To recap, here's a few short, quick, hard truths. I don't want to sound jaded and I sure don't want to turn off anyone interested in getting in front of the camera for me and fucking their brains out. But:

You won't get rich by doing porn.
Not everyone is Matthew Rush or Leo Giamani, lucky enough to have exclusive contracts.
Not every studio is Falcon or Lucas Entertainment so, no, we can't all pay what you probably should be paid.
The rules have changed and we all have to change along with them.

But you will:
Make some extra cash! Even if you only get $250 for 2 hours worth of work, you're still ahead of the game!
Have a hell of a lot of fun!
Meet new people!
Gain experience that you can then take to the bigger studios who will be able to pay you more!

Contracts have been signed, mailed and received by the publisher. The fun will truly begin when I get down to the nitty-gritty with the editor. Assuming all goes well, the e-book should be released sometime late Spring, early Summer. Can't wait!

Belated Happy Holidays to everyone!

Not much was happening in the Horndawg household as 2009 came to a close. With family obligations, friends over for the holidays, and the usual duties and responsibilities that comes with the Holiday season, there really wasn't much time for anything else!

However, 2010 is off with a bang. Lots of stuff happening with plenty more to come! So if I'm a bit late in getting posts up on the blog, please forgive me.

First up, I've finally finished putting together "A Stroke At Midnight: Volume 2." YAY!!! The book will be available through Lulu press as either an actual book that will be mailed to you, or as an e-book that you can download. A link will be provided once the book is approved and signed off on. We are currently anticipating a proof copy to finalize the production phase of the book. With any luck, "A Stroke At Midnight: Volume 2" should be available for purchase at the end of January or the beginning of February 2010. The first collection, "A Stroke At Midnight," is currently available as either a downloadable book or hard copy.

In addition to the release of "A Stroke At Midnight: Volume 2", portions of the erotic novel, "My Uncle Piri," have appeared in Handjobs, the Daddy/Son magazine. Part 1 appeared in the December 2009 issue and Part 2 in the January 2010 issue. Parts 3 and 4 will be coming out in the February and March 2010 issues. An extended version of "My Uncle Piri" will be available shortly after the 4th story is published. Look for it towards the end of March, beginning of April 2010.

As if that were not enough, I'm very excited about the gay, erotic romance I've been working on. "Casa Rodrigo" has made it through Round 1 of approvals. I am waiting to hear about Round 2. I'm looking forward to hearing what they say. I know it will be a long and, perhaps, arduous process of editing and finalizing. But it's one I look forward to as it will mean the realization of a life-long dream come true. Some of you may say, "But you're already a published writer!" And that may be. But being published by someone else and getting paid for it are two very different forms of much-needed validation. Yes, I do need strokes to the ego every once in a while. It's not just my cock that enjoys the stroking.

On a final note, I'm back in school to finish my Associates in Liberal Arts. FINALLY!

And last, but certainly not least, Horndawgz will begin filming content for other studios. We are hoping to start by the end of January, early February. Unfortunately, a lot of steps had to be figured out, discussed, planned and ironed. The models are ready to go, the producer is anxious for me to start, and we even have a wonderful photographer who will be working alongside us on these projects! Now all we need is the camera equipment to finally arrive. That should be happening over the next week or so. Keeping my fingers crossed!

So, as you can see, lots and lots of stuff going on. Much more to look forward to! I apologize for the lengthy post. Hopefully the next one won't be so long.

This is my first week at recruiting. Thus far, I've had a fun time meeting new people and taking test shots. More possible recruits to come next week. Hopefully, some of the people I've sent to the producer will be paired up soon.

On Hope, Faith, The Universe, and Me

I don't know if age has something to do with my new-found ability to see patterns and connections but I know this. I finally understand what "cautiously optimistic" means. For the first time in my life I finally understand hope. I have hope that things are turning and will continue to do so. I can't really say it all started with the cruise we took last January but I have become much more aware of it since then as it was a pivotal turning point in my life.

One night, while on the ship, I remember looking up at the pitch black sky where all you could see were stars. I was having my coffee and across from me was my wonderful partner of 13, almost 14 years. I told him I was tired of the routine and mundane. I wanted adventure, excitement, the feeling that I was alive and thriving. I wanted to truly experience life and not just survive. Silently, I tossed up to the universe: I like this feeling of being untethered.

Less than a week later I, along with the entire group of people I worked with, was laid off. I didn't see the connection then. At least, not clearly. But I suspected.

Fast forward to when I silently tossed up to the universe, as before: I need cash. One of the people we met on the cruise called me and said he needed an assistant on a temporary basis. I got cash. Not a lot mind you, but then I wasn't very specific.

Fast forward to when I silently tossed up to the universe: I want to get paid for staying at home writing. It hasn't been much, but I've been continuing with my reviews, ghostblogging, and working on my gay, erotic novel. If we hadn't said yes to going on the cruise, I never would have met Treva, who inspired me to do exactly what I told the universe I wanted. Still not sure if the novel will be published. It's not yet finished. But I have hope. I am "cautiously optimistic".

Fast forward a few more months to where I silently tossed up to the universe: I want the brass ring. I want the money, the luxury to spend my time doing as little as possible, have fun doing it, and enjoying life by immersing myself into projects that are exciting and stimulating. I want all the money I need to do whatever I want, whenever I want, and the health to go along with it so I can enjoy my life and, again, thrive. Those may not have been the very words I used but it was the jist. Or is that gist?

Anyway, today, the very first of what will hopefully be many men, showed up at our door. He didn't have a brass ring but he wore a cockring. I think that counts. I'm getting closer. I'm "cautiously optimistic".

I will be taking on yet another new venture and filming content for other producers as well as continuing with our own movies. I was given the green light to proceed and recruit. I have hope this will work. I am "cautiously optimistic".

The pattern? I've asked for things I want, with no preconceived notions. With no conditions placed. And it's come to pass. True, I could have been a bit more detailed. True, I didn't think some of it would come to pass via losing my main source of income, but that's okay.

The connections? If I hadn't… If this had not happened… In other words, the power of Yes, I will…

The faith part? Believing with all my heart that something I wish for can happen, even when reason and practicality tells me it shouldn't be so.

Only time will tell but I think I see the connection between hope, faith, the universe and me.

In the meantime, if anybody out there knows of any Daddies or Boys (at 47 I think I've earned the right to call anyone in their 20s a boy!) that want to do porn, send them my way. Or if anyone out there reading this is a Daddy or a Boy (18 and over) and you want to try your … ummmmm… hand, at porn … get in touch with me.

OMFG! Has it really been that long?

I have to admit that when it comes to daily blog updates, let alone weekly or even monthly, I admire people who have the energy, time and stamina to keep up with it. I have enough problems keeping up with daily life, let alone trying to document it. But then, that's why I always had such a hard time keeping journals. In the past, when I kept journals, I'd go weeks before making an entry. My Comp & Lit professor, during my youth at NYU, actually said he liked those types of journals best as the gaps sometimes punctuated a person's activities better than the actual documentation of them. Whatever. Personally I just think he lusted after my ass. I found out years later I was correct! And no. That's NOT how I got my A.

That having been said, I can't believe it's been so long since my last blog entry. It doesn't seem like it. I guess September really wasn't last week, huh?

Amidst trying to evict a long-term cold, writing more porn site reviews, two porn stories that will soon appear in Handjobs Magazine (updates to cum), trying to finish my gay, erotic romance, returning to school to finish my A.A. (just 6 fucking classes left!) as well as sometimes blogging for RawTop, my partner and I managed to squeeze in 2 film shoots! Of course, I've paid for all this activity dearly. Not only have I ignored some friends but that kick-ass cold just doesn't seem to want to leave. It likes it's new digs. I must be a good host because my lungs haven't been empty or alone for nearly a month now. But Doc says I'm fine; even after the alphabet soup of tests.

But you don't want to read about that schmutz.

What you DO want to read about is Mathew James and Rocky Coxxx. I mentioned them in my last post. I'm so happy we were able to get the two of them together! They were very hot and extremely wonderful to work with. Professional and fun. They made our job very easy. Of course, that was the fun part; filming. The editing took a while but it's all now in the can and off to our distributor! Below are a couple of pics for you to enjoy and, hopefully, whet your appetite for our 6th release entitled "Dawgz At Play: Mathew & Rocky." No trailer yet, but I'm working on it. It should be up next week. I hope.

Looking back, it's kinda hard to believe that Horndawg Productions has now been in existence for one full year and survived! We're not making the kind of money I would like to draw a salary from.Yet. But at least we've gotten to the point where we're not having todole out from our own pockets, either. Everything we've earned thus farhas been rolled back into the company to pay for the next project. Iguess that's an achievement! The best part of all is that we're havinga lot of fun doing it. Sometimes I step back, look at my partner andask, "Did that really just happen? Did two really hot guys just fuck inour bed?" In this case it's a massage table.

Thanks to AMVC and RawTop for all their help and encouragement. But mostly, thanks to all the fans! Hopefully next year we'll be able to draw some sort of salary. If not, we'll just keep rolling the money into the business in order to bring you even more releases!

Will The Heat Ever End?

It is the middle of September and while most other places are beginning to cool down, South Florida continues to be stinking hot and disgustingly muggy. Unfortunately, it's almost as if the heat has gotten to my brain and we've been a bit unmotivated to work. However, I have also been doing other things: finished my gay, erotic love story (can't really say it was a romance; though it was supposed to be). Oddly, having finished that first novel, it's as if the damn that had been holding me back is now cracking. Somewhere, there's a little boy with his finger in the dike of ideas in my brain. And if he doesn't move, he's gonna drown!

I have to do some major edits on the novel; I'm not sure the path will be easy but it's one I must travel down as this is the one thing I have wanted my entire life. The one thing I have been afraid to test and pursue. And yet, I'm daunted. The editor sees things in certain characters I just can't see. We'll see how that goes. I am tempted to drop it and leave it alone. Start an altogether new novel. We'll see.

Last week we were at Disney and I suppose I'm still under their Kool-Aid magic as my brain just can't seem to focus on pictures of naked men. But that will change. I know me and I can't resist a guy bending over and exposing his crack to get my attention. In fact, we're hoping to get one of my favorites, Rocky C from Dawg Eat Dawg, back to Lauderdale and film him with Mathew, who we filmed this past February but never used. Keep your fingers crossed!

We're also hoping to shoot a very hot Daddy we started chatting with a while back. We got to meet him recently and socialized a bit. He's a great guy and we look forward to working with him in the very near future. He's also one of those men with a lot of depth, character and talents. Plus, there's a quietly bubbling sensuality about him that has both of us panting! Great dick, beautiful balls and one of the sweetest looking taints. SLURRRRP! We can't show you his private pics but as soon as we have filmed him, stills will be posted.

We will also begin to edit a session we filmed a while back, Piss Master and His Piss Boy, and hope to have that ready soon. What's soon, you ask? Don't know. Stay tuned, though. Since we worked with two cameras and are using the new version of iMovie to edit, it's a bit more difficult to put together. You have more control with certain aspects, but the learning curve is, I think, a pretty big difference. We started editing a while back, shortly after filming in fact. But since I've needed to complete other projects in order to earn a bit of mullah, what the Brits call … I believe … dosh, or lolly, PM and HPB has, unfortunately, needed to be pushed back a bit. Unfortunately, once done, it will not be available for purchase on DVD. It will only be available for streaming; ALL pun intended!

And speaking of money: here's an odd experience. With our 4th release, Dawg Eat Dawg, we were very excited as the guys were very hot and we really thought it would do well. Ironically, it didn't. DVD sales -- as with most other producers -- were pretty dismal. I wasn't worried, though. I knew the streaming would soon follow and sales would pick up there. Or so we hoped; didn't do as well as we'd would have liked. Strangely, the 5th and most recent release, Dawg Day Afternoon 2, did far better! It came in 19th at AMVC with DVD sales. Now, DDA2 is available for streaming through our AEBN theatre. It was released sometime between Monday, September 7 and Friday, September 11 (we were gone that week so I'm not exactly sure of the date it became available). Thus far, according to AEBN stats, DDA2 is earning more money than Dawg Eat Dawg, which I think is hotter. Go figure!

Which leads me to some questions. Have we become a nation of watchers? Or have we always been voyeurs? Have reality shows truly tapped into something that carries over into porn? I'm beginning to think that with the popularity of sites like Xtube and sales being higher on the point-of-view DVDs Horndawg Productions has put out, if perhaps that's the best way to go? All these questions, naturally lead me to the next biggest question: is this part of finding our niche? If any of you reading and following this blog have any thoughts you'd like to share -- either here or in private -- I would love to hear them.

On a final note, our other blog -- The Horndawgz Playground -- is getting some hits. I think it's growing in popularity. We're having a lot of fun with the various affiliates, reviewing DVDs, sites, and artists. So, even if it doesn't make any money we might still keep it since we're enjoying it so much. Life Imitates Porn

Okay. So … those that know me know that I don't make a habit of bad-mouthing people. And truthfully, I'm not about to. Someone else has done it before me. Besides, it's too good to be true! Sadly.

It seems that a 29-year-old Sheriff's deputy here in Fort Lauderdale has been arrested on 14 counts of sexual battery. He's openly gay. Now, most of us have had our fantasies about being pulled over by the hot cop who never takes his clothes off or his shades; just unzips, whips it out and demands you service him. Or worse (better?) yet … fucks you over the hood of your own car, or his police vehicle. Somewhere that's semi-private so you're still outside. Maybe behind a billboard by the highway?

This particular deputy actually did the opposite. He would apparently stop his victims, illegal immigrants mostly, prop them up against their cars and frisk them. Then he would demand that they let him suck THEM off. Of course, the regular papers weren't that explicit. Nor was the news. When I first heard about it, I thought, "That's kinda hot!" I'm not sure what's sicker. How I Lost My Cherry At Bear Dance

Last night, my partner and I went to The Depot in Fort Lauderdale. A good friend of ours, a photographer by the name of Sylvester Q, was there taking pictures. He's a great photographer who brings out things in you even you didn't know you had!

At any rate, because he asked, we wanted to show our support. The bar has "Bear Dance" on Friday nights. When we first heard about it we though, "Cool! A night when we can let our hair down and chill with a few beers." We had images in our mind of a bunch of wild, spinning bears in a Bacchanalian atmosphere, prancing about a huge bonfire, as in the picture below.

Alas, there were probably only a few dozen guys there, some of them smashed, all in little cliques and no one seemed to step out of their comfort zone. But then again, we didn't exactly reach out to others either. Although, Sylvester did introduce us to two guys who were very nice. We enjoyed chatting with them, despite the loud music.

The evening could have been such a smash, not just because of Sylvester being there to take professional shots of people, but because the concept of a Bear Dance just sounds like so much fun! Picture it, a bunch of bears, happy, drinking, horny. Could have been a wild night! Don't know if perhaps another bar is more popular on Friday's or if Bear Dance just wasn't advertised. In either case, it was a very small turn out.

One of the guys Sylvester introduced us to is a nice, quiet, shy man with a sensuous underside. He's probably about 50ish? I'm real bad with age. It was wonderful to hear that they offered the position to someone outside the company, someone who had not been affected by the closure of the Call Center or the second wave of lay-offs that took place just this past June. I guess that era of my life is truly, truly gone now. Still makes me sad, though. But as they sang in "Chess" nothing is so good it lasts eternally.

We wound up meeting M's partner and their friends. Shortly after, Alan, another bear friend showed up and we chatted with him for a while. It's always good to see him. Alan runs a grant writing firm here in Lauderdale and is probably one of the loudest, wildest people we know. In fact, he was the one who asked his closest friends and family to go with him on a cruise. If it had not been for Alan, we would not have met many of the people we know now; including Sylvester, who was on the cruise, and Treva Harte, a romance novelist and e-publisher at Loose-Id (who I'm hoping to submit my novel to in another month or so).

At some point towards the end of the night, Sylvester pulled me into the back room, where the photo sessions were taking place. He shot about 12 pics, some of which I really liked and, money willing, will soon purchase.

All in all, though the turn-out was disappointing, we had a good time. But the best thing of all, aside from the fact that I was with my partner doing something different and social, was the fact that my cherry was popped last night. Metaphorically speaking, of course. You see, I have a lot of courage for many things. I can jump into a conversation and find even the smallest of threads that we might have in common; at least that's what my partner says. It's Sunday evening and I'm fading fast. So, just a quick update.

It's been a busy week as we scurried about town getting accessories for our newly remodeled bathroom and put some finishing touches on it. Tomorrow, our shower doors will be delivered and, with any luck, the guy who did our bathroom will be able to install the doors before the week is out. When it is completed, we will post a few pics. Dawg Day Afternoon 2: Update

There's a few details left to do on Dawg Day Afternoon 2 but it's all behind the scenes stuff. Personal. Everthing else — the paperwork, the Master for AMVC, the extra copies for myself and the models — that's done. Now I just need to put together a trailer. That should happen sometime next week.

Dawg Day Afternoon 2: Same Dawg, Different Day

You know how sometimes you can kill yourself trying to make something happen? I mean you can push and push and push and the only thing that will happen is you'll shit your pants. Hours, if not days or weeks — even months! — of frustration can go by before something starts to move.

And then there are other times when everything just seems to fall into place. Once again, life reminds me that everything happens at the time it's supposed to happen.

In this particular instance, I'm referring to our latest title. Yup! Another Horndawg Productions movie. We weren't planning on any new releases until October or November of this year. But this one was already here. I just didn't know it. The movie is called Dawg Day Afternoon 2: Same Dawg, Different Day. It all came about when I started to edit a segment I had shot with a beefy, burly Dad named Bryan Holiday. In this segment, I walk in to find clothes strewn on the floor then work my way up the stairs to find a horny man jerking off in the stairwell. For the second, we take it downstairs. I did a rush edit on the scene with Chase, and put it before Bryan's scene. Then I bookended Bryan with a jerk-off scene I shot of myself in a plane bathroom when I was flying up to New York to visit family in Brooklyn.

Et voila! Just like that a new release is created. Well, almost just like that.

This is what I consider to be true, amateur gay porn. Homemade. Is that one or two? Don't know. Anyway, there is some editing in DDA 2, but not much. You will hear snaps, crackles and pops. You will see jitteriness. There will be moments where you see me changing the camera angle and probably wonder, "What the fuck was he thinking?" But then again, maybe you won't.

Dawg Day Afternoon 2 came together very much the way Dawg Day Afternoon did. Quick. Unexpected. Easy. It was not my crowning moment of glory as my partner and I had a few words to exchange over that one. And yet, it has made the most money out of any of the movies we've put out thus far. It'll be interesting to see how it does.

I'm still in the throes of post-production tedium but I expect to have the Master in the mail to AMVC tomorrow. With any luck, it will be released August 7 or thereafter. I will post stills once I have them.

Horndawg Update

It's Friday evening, July 10, 6:20 e.s.t. We're settling in after a very long ride home today. We came back from Savannah a day earlier as we both felt it was time to come back home. Since we did a road trip, we weren't forced to stay one more day in a place we no longer wanted to be, as opposed to flying. Not that we didn't enjoy ourselves.
